Nobody will tell you what exactly needs to be done, you must understand it yourself, decide for yourself what will be better for your organization. You will have mistakes too, where without them, but this is not a reason to sit and do nothing, not strive for anything. Define metrics, goals and ways to achieve them. Learn, do someone else's work, and then you will succeed. Everything else is an excuse.
